Every December, YouTube will release a Rewind video, recapping all the viral and trending videos as well as events that happened within the year.
This year, with the title “The Shape of 2017” – inspired from Ed Sheeran’s hit “Shape of You” – the video once again highlights some of the top happenings in 2017 and features famous YouTube personalities.
One of the personalities that caught our attention is Pinoy pride Niana Guerrero, a dancing genius who became an internet sensation (along with her brother Ranz Kyle) through their awe-inspiring dance moves and for being the epitome of #SiblingGoals.
She is one few Southeast Asians who appears in the video alongside famous social media stars including Lele Pons, Liza Koshy, Kurt Hugo Schneider, Poppy, Lilly Singh, Jake and Logan Paul, and more.
Though Niana rise to fame alongside her brother, she has recently won the hearts of many adoring fans from around the world through her “Hit that Despacito Dance”, where she will start dancing every time the song starts playing.
Because of that, she is one of the first persons to initiate the start of the video which begins with the song “Despacito”.
Aside from Niana, other Southeast Asian YouTubers that we managed to spot include fellow Filipinos Alex and Roi Wassabi from the Wassabi Productions, Thai sensation Bie the Ska, and Niana’s brother Ranza Kyle who appears briefly at the end of the video.
Meanwhile, some of the biggest highlights in the video are fidget spinners, salt bae meme, and a few references from music videos such as Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do”, Dua Lipa’s “New Rules”, and Katy Perry’s “Swish Swish”.
The video also features Stephen Colbert, Marshmello, and of course, Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee.
