Just when you thought Asia couldn't get any more interesting, here comes an unexpected development no one really imagined...
A Ferris wheel that will be placed on top of a upcoming skyscraper at 220 meters above ground!
According to the property developer's Facebook page, M101 Holdings Sdn Bhd and The Star, this 'M101 SkyWheel' will be the first in the world and will be housed on the 53rd floor of the 78-storey building.
Floor 50th to 52nd will house a SkyMall, with over 200,000 square feet of retail space.
The building will also be home to a Planet Hollywood Hotel.
Located at the Kampung Baru area, which is basically just a stone's throw away (or maybe a few stones!) from the Petronas Twin Towers, the building is now under construction and will be completed in 2021.
It is designed by luxury design agency, Studio F.A Porsche, and here's what the description of the project is, as per their website:
The world's first M101 SkyWheel redefines the skyline of Kuala Lumpur with its two towers.
Traditional Malay design elements are interpreted through a functional and modern perspective, so that the geometric shapes create new, bold design patterns.
Three key elements define the façade: red meridians, black glass fronts, and a titanium base structure that gives the building a solid foundation and strong presence. Each element has its individual function, together they give a clear design language.
The transfer of the functional, product design-oriented conception to the façade, the focus on materials and the attention to detail combine to create an expression that challenges conventional design approaches while offering visitors completely new ways of interacting with the space.
