Catch up with friends at these dog cafés around Malaysia

You’re either a dog person or a cat person, but since in 2018 we usher in the Year of the Dog, an adorable pet renowned around the world as man’s best friend, everyone’s focus will be more on our furry tail-wagging, ball-fetching four-legged friend this year (sorry, felines).

Today let’s take a look at the ones available in Malaysia, where the number of dog cafés is slowly catching up to the cat cafés available in the country.

Let’s set the ball rolling (and watch Skippy run after it) with Huskiss Café, only the second ever Husky-centred café to open in Malaysia. The words Husky and Kiss combined make up the name of this café. Fairly new, the doors to Huskiss were only opened to the public in October 2017. Food served here come with names like Huskiss Haus Pizza and Harney & Sons tea, how cute! While outside pets are not allowed, Husky lovers can have plenty of fun pampering the resident blue-eyed ‘Huskids’. Check out its official Facebook for the timeslots available (yes, you’ll have to book ahead), there are six in total, starting from 11am and the last one ends at 10pm.

True dog lovers would already be aware of this ‘paw-sitively’ cool café since it has been around since 2015. At The Hound, customers are allowed to bring their own doggy buddies, no matter what breed or pedigree, to mingle with other furry friends. You can even throw parties here for your beloved pet! The mascot here is a cute beagle called Cookie; she won’t mind you petting and cuddling her to your heart’s content. The menu here consists of quite a nice range of western food and delectable desserts.

The Huskitory is a must on this list as it is after all the first Husky café to open in Malaysia. Located about 20 minutes away by car from Malacca’s famed Jonker Street, the travel is worth it as here absolute husky lovers will have a super cool time with oh so many Huskies. Of course, other dogs are always welcome to frolic around the café, which also houses a grooming centre and a pet store. The cute menu offers food for both dogs and their humans. Another worthy mention in the state is Woof Station, though this café doesn’t allow outside pets, it stands out as it also educates customers about doggy care.

If dogs could talk, they’ll go bow-wow-WOW when they step foot (paw?) into this café. Located in the Bornean part of Malaysia, there are nine in-house dogs of various breeds that customers can happily play with. Other dogs are allowed to join in the fun at the café whether house-trained or not, provided that the owners can clean up after their pets. Here, dogs are kings as they also have their own special menu. Humans, don’t feel down though, the food for you ooze such whimsical charm you might even find yourself reluctant to chow down!

We’re definitely barking up the right tree when we say Bark & Bean Pets Café is a must-visit in Penang. If you don’t own a pet, this is the perfect place to come and cuddle so many adorable dogs. This is more than just a place to pet some dogs though as it also doubles as a wellness lounge (and right next door is spa and pet hotel Fox Butler). So those with their own pets can chill here with a cup of coffee while their doggies get all dolled up at the wellness lounge. You can’t feed the resident dogs but you sure can treat yourself to some yummy desserts. You can even order delightful ‘barkday’ cakes to celebrate your canine companion’s special day at the café.
