The Force has shifted to TV.
Looks like the "Star Wars" hype train is not stopping, as Lucasfilm has announced that there will be a brand new live-action "Star Wars" TV series with Jon Favreau (“The Jungle Book”) attached to produce and write.

Lucasfilm took it to the official Star Wars website to share this news, stating that the new series will be available exclusively on Disney’s new direct-to-consumer platform.

“I couldn’t be more excited about Jon coming on board to produce and write for the new direct-to-consumer platform,” said Lucasfilm president, Kathleen Kennedy.

She later added that Favreau is the perfect combination of producing and writing, who is also fluent in the “Star Wars” lore.

This will mark his third time working for “Star Wars”, the first being a voice actor for Pre Vizsla in the animated series "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" and the second a part as the alien pilot Rio Durant in the upcoming "Solo: A Star Wars Story".

Details regarding the series' plot, release date, and official title have yet to be announced.

Favreau, who is also widely known for directing "Iron Man", which jumpstarted the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is currently working on a live-action / CGI version of "The Lion King", scheduled to be released on 19 July 2019.
