The seventh season of the American-British action adventure series, “Strike Back”, is currently in its pre-production stage in Malaysia with shooting scheduled to begin later this month.
With the latest season concluded in early April last year, “Strike Back” will now be set in a different country than the last as their primary shooting location.
Reported by KFTV, the Left Bank Pictures and Cinemax’s blockbuster action drama series will be heading to Pinewood Iskandar Malaysia Studios in Johor as its base for production.
Cast and storyline details have yet to be confirmed, but the series is scheduled for a five month shooting period within Malaysia.
“Strike Back” is based off the novel of the same title, written by former Special Air Service soldier, Chris Ryan.
The series follows the operations of Section 20, a secret squad of military experts from the British Defence Intelligence service that goes through extremely dangerous missions across the globe.
“Strike Back” has won two out of the six accolades it was nominated for, the first series in 2010 for the National Television Awards in Best Digital Choice and the UK Screen Association Conch Award for Best Audio on TV Drama of the Year in 2012.
Pinewood Malaysia previously hosted variety shows, “Asia’s Got Talent” as well as “The Voice (SG/MY edition), last year.
It was also the filming base for the Netflix TV series, “Marco Polo”.
