Rasa sayang, eh rasa sayang sayang eh...” MXM maknae Kim Dong-hyun confidently sang along with emcee Hani Fadzil during the MXM Match Up Fan Meeting held at HGH Convention Hall yesterday evening.

Lim Young-min, the older half of the South Korean act, compensated his lack of singing by smiling wide instead, bopping his head to the music as Dong-hyun continued singing.

The duo sang – or adorably attempted to sing – the Malay song during the Welcome to Malaysia segment of their first ever fan meeting in the country. They even showed off their Malay language skills, with Young-min continually proclaiming “Saya cinta padamu” (I love you) to the crowd of 1,600 strong fans and Dong-hyun repeatedly thanking everyone by saying “Terima kasih” (thank you).

Having landed in the country since Sunday, it was understandable that the duo was eager to show their love to their Malaysian fans, who had received them warmly since their arrival.

MXM opened their fan meeting yesterday with their energetic performances of “I’m the One”, the title track of their debut album “Unmix”, and “Perfectly Perfect”, off their second album, “Match Up”.

They then started their first game with their fans, where the fans had to correctly answer the questions related to MXM. The first game ended with eight lucky fans going home with a signed poster each.

Winners of the second game walked away with even memorable prizes. Consisting of four rounds, each round of the game required two fans (picked by the MXM members themselves) to correctly guess the drawings done by each of the members. The winners were then presented with the drawings that also bore the signature of the respective members.

More signed posters were given away during the brief lucky draw session, before MXM returned on stage to perform more songs, including “Being Objective”, “Just Come Out”, “Errday” and “Diamond Girl”.

The game and stage performance segments of the fan meeting lasted for approximately two hours but the fun did not end there, as most of the fans stayed back for their exclusive photo session and high five session with MXM afterward.

Thanking their Malaysian fans for the warm support, MXM promised to return in the future for a more fun and memorable visit.
