It’s no secret that singer-actress Demi Lovato has been battling drug and alcohol addiction for years.
She was believed to have overdosed on heroin.
Her aunt, Kerissa Dunn, later updated on social media that Lovato was “awake and responsive”.
“Demi is awake and with her family who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers and support.
“Some of the information being reported is incorrect and they respectfully ask for privacy and not speculation as her health and recovery is the most important thing right now,” Lovato’s rep revealed in a statement, as quoted by TIME.
Lovato revealed in her song “Sober”, release last month, that she had fallen off the wagon after six years of sobriety, as evident from the lyrics: “Momma, I’m so sorry I’m not sober anymore/And daddy please forgive me for the drinks spilled on the floor.”
The hashtag #PrayForDemi is currently trending on Twitter, with fans and fellow celebrities alike showering the singer-actress with words of support.
Singers like Macklemore and Charlie Puth also dedicated their respective songs “Otherside” and “See You Again” to Lovato during their concerts.
