Over the years, several privacy and security-focused web browsers have been developed to protect your privacy online, but now, for the first time ever, a new Sharia-compliant web browser has been created to prevent users from surfing haram (illicit) content.
Salam Browser, is a Chromium-based browser which adheres to Islamic adab (manners), enabling safe and clean web browsing that can help maintain the “purity of your heart and benefits your values.”
Developed by SBRO Online Safety Solutions, a Malaysian security software company focused on ASEAN countries, Salam Browser will alert users of webpages that contain pornography, gambling, materials which are offensive to the religion, and also other harmful content.
It also eliminates any adult and violent content in its image and video search results.
Furthermore, users can help protect the Salam community by reporting undetected harmful webpages to the browser’s blacklist so that other Salam users will be protected as well.
For enhanced privacy online, Salam Browser hides your geolocation with built-in free VPN service and blocks the tracking of your online activity to secure your personal data from abuse.
Currently, Salam Browser is only available on Windows and is currently in its Beta stage.

This is not the first time that Malaysia has developed Sharia-compliant products and services. For example, there is (or was) Rayani Air, Islamic banks and Shariah-compliant hotels.
