“Halfworlds” return for season 2 with new director and cast


HBO Asia is set to renew the dark action fantasy series, “Halfworlds” with a new director and cast.

The second season will have eight episodes and will be shot in Bangkok and Batam.

The series marks HBO Asia’s very first returnable series and it is slated to be released at the end of 2016.


Directed by Thai filmmaker Ekachai Uekrongtham, the new season of “Halfworlds” will feature an ensemble cast of actors from Thailand, Indonesia, The Philippines and Taiwan.

Reza Rahadian and Arifin Putra will return to the series as Tony and Barata, alongside new cast; Peem Jaiyen (Hormones 3), Tia Tavee (Asia’s Next Top Model 2), Emma Grant (The Idol Game), Myra Molloy (Thailand’s Got Talent), Nicole Theriault (Phobia 2), Jeeja Yanin (Chocolate), David Asavanond (The Last Executioner), Charlie Ruedpokanon (Only God Forgives), Jake Macapagal (Metro Manila), and Teresa Daley (Transformers: Age of Extinction).

“Halfworlds was created to transcend geographical boundaries, so HBO Asia is of course, delighted by the impact it’s made on audiences across the region and thrilled to be bringing it back,” said Jonathan Spink, CEO of HBO Asia.

“We’re looking forward to drawing more audiences into our fictional world of Halfworlds.”

“Halfworlds” Season 2 will feature a new female lead named Juliet, a researcher who is trying to uncover the secret world of demons, while at the same time,  looking for an ancient artefact of great power.

Aside from Arifin Putra and Reza Rahadian, the first season of "Halfworlds" stars Salvita Decorte, , Aimee Saras, Adinia Wirasti, Hannah Al-Rashid, Tara Basro Si Boy, Alex Abbad, Ario Bayu, Verdi Solaiman and Bront Palarae.

It is about a young street artist named Sara who unintentinally caught in between a battle of humans and demons, and ultimately discovers her true origins
