The National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) is now urging for production companies filming in states with Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) to return immediately.

The order was made after Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced that the entire country - with the exception of Sarawak - will now come under the MCO following the increased number of cases of COVID-19.

"FINAS would like to inform all production companies that filming activities in all areas within the MCO have been prohibited. Therefore, we suggest that any production houses that are still filming in states that were previously under CMCO to expedite the return process to avoid any limitation and difficulties before the MCO goes into force on 22 January 2021."

The agency also stated that all parties involved in the interstate travel will have to apply for permission to travel from the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) and include the Certificate of Filming (SPP) issued by FINAS as a supporting document.

It is noted that production companies were already banned from filming around Kuala Lumpur and Selangor due to the state’s MCO status.
