Singer Nora Ariffin was recently named as one of the recipients of the Datukship award, granted by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Riáyatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah on Federal Territory Day.
The singer, who spoke about being granted the medal of Panglima Mahkota Wilayah on 1 February, expressed her thanks and gratitude for such recognition and honour, saying that she kept thinking of her late husband, Allahyarham Johan Nawawi ever since she received the good news.
"He would be the happiest for this honour if he was still alive," she said.

Despite not being able to celebrate it with her late husband, who passed away in 2017, Nora said that she is still happy to be able to do so with her remaining three children and her daughter in law.
It is noted that Nora had also lost her son Mohd Syakir Alif in December 2019.
"My kids are all happy and excited. They cried when I shared the news. We are celebrating this joy together," she added.

Aside from Nora, the two other thespians who received the same honour were famed lyricist Habsah Hassan and filmmaker Yusry Abdul Halim.
