After previously slamming the Grammys for snubbing him this year, The Weeknd recently announced that he is snubbing the awards back.
The singer, real name Abel Tesfaye, recently told The New York Times that he will no longer participate in the said awards, following the Grammy Awards' failure to nominate his latest release, "After Hours" despite it being both a commercial and critical success.
"Because of the secret committees, I will no longer allow my label to submit my music to the Grammys," he said.
Back in November, The Weeknd blasted the said awards following the nominations announcement, posting on social media, "The Grammys remain corrupt. You owe me, my fans, and the industry transparency"
The Weeknd, who has won three Grammys throughout his career, has recently become a big winner at the American Music Awards. He was also the headliner for the 2021 Super Bowl halftime show.
His single, "Blinding Lights" also became the first song in Billboard hot 100 history to spend a full year in the chart's top 10 after remaining in the top spot for 52 weeks.
This is not the first time that an entertainer has expressed frustration with the said awards. Drake, Kanye West, Frank Ocean were among the many who accused the system of being unfair towards musician of colour.
Drake even expressed his anger over The Weeknd's snub, saying that he had expected the latter to lock for either album or song of the year.
