Kaka Azraff is elated that her song "Gila", a collaboration with rappers Loca B and Noki from K-Clique became the ultimate winner at the 35th edition of Anugerah Juara Lagu (AJL) which was held yesterday, 14 March.
The singer, who spoke to the media following their victory, stated that she faced many challenges in the week prior to their performance on Sunday night - from her losing her phone to the death of her beloved grandmother, Yang Asmah Long.
"I kept it all inside because I had to focus on AJL... When I performed on stage earlier, I’ve brought my grandmother's spirit with me," she said.

The singer, who is also the niece of Malaysia's queen of rock Ella, stated that the latter also reminded her not to be discouraged by what had happened.
"I was also very confident with the song. It would be a waste not to perform," she said.
The song, composed by Loca B, Noki and award-winning composer Ezra Kong, brought home a cash prize of RM50,000 and a trophy. It is noted that it was the first time for all three performers to compete in the annual music event.
On the other hand, the second and third place went to "Semalam", a song written, composed and performed by Aina Abdul, and Hael Husaini and Ezra Kong's "Belenggu Rindu" (performed by Jamal Abdillah and Wany Hasrita), respectively.
Aina Abdul is luckiest, winning all three accolades by singing her own composed and written song, "Semalam" |
