Out of nowhere it seems, Sylvester Stallone suddenly revealed that he is currently developing a "Rocky" origin story.

On 30 March, the actor shared a rough draft of a prequel that was written on paper, and expressed, "This may be the strangest posting yet. I started out this morning by writing a treatment for a Rocky prequel For streaming. Ideally 10 episodes for a few seasons to really get to the heart of the Characters in [their] younger years."

"Here is a small portion of how my creative writing process starts… Hope it happens - And then I needed to clear my head so I went fishing," he added.

Woah!! A Rocky prequel?
The said draft read, "Imagine a time machine that will simply transport us back to the origins of ROCKY. A cinematic world brimming with chapters that have been beloved by people around the world for nearly five decades! Climbing aboard that time machine that will take us to the most transformative generation in modern history: The sixties."

He then listed all the events that had happened in the era, including the moon landing, the Cold War, the Civil Rights movement, as well as the Vietnam War, and continued, "Needless to say the 60s was a dynamic time. Yet, among all this social seismic activity, we drop in on the rather plain life of 17 year-old Robert "Rocky" Balboa. When we first met Rocky in 1976, he was a very lost soul - a forgotten man, a wasted life. Until he was transformed into a winner. We now see this young man struggling like all young people trying to find their place."

Stallone is very fond of "Rocky", one of his most popular films throughout his career
In another post, Stallone shared some snippets from the script, and wrote, "I KNOW my hand writing is very awkward. But so what it achieved the goal. But I decided to show a little bit more of the creative process for the Rocky Prequel but this time it’s a lot more legible… Tell me what you think. I’m excited. MGM is excited. Hope you are too. Keep Punching."

It is interesting to see how Stallone will complete this project of his, seeing that the original "Rocky" was already an "origin story" in its right.

The character, which returned on "Creed" in 2015 and its sequel three years later, also concluded his storyline in the latter. No news as to whether Rocky will return in "Creed III", which will be directed by its star Michael B. Jordan soon.
