Malaysian professional cyclist, Azizulhasni Awang, has made his country proud by winning a bronze medal in the keirin event at the Rio Olympics Games.
Also known as “Azizul the pocket rocket”, the 28-year-old had won Malaysia's first ever Olympic Games cycling medal in his third Olympic appearance.
Azizulhasni finished the race in third place, behind defending champion Jason Kenny of Great Britain and Matthijs Buchli of Holland during the final.
“I dedicate this medal to all Malaysians and to my wife and kids who sacrificed a lot over the years,” he said to Bernama.

“Although I was going for the gold, but the bronze is the result of hard work over the years and the beginning to mount for the gold in the 2020 Tokyo Games,” he added.
Azizulhasni was one of the six cyclists and only Asian to qualify for the final round.
His bronze medal is the second medal for Malaysia at the Rio Olympics 2016 as diving pair, Pandelela Rinong and Cheong Jun Hoong had won a silver medal during the synchronised 10m platform last Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Malaysian shuttlers Goh V Shem and Tan Wee Kiong are going for the gold as the pair had won the men’s doubles semi-final after beating China’s Chai Biao and Hong Wei last night.
