Malaysian low-cost airline AirAsia is offering free flights for life to all Asean athletes who won gold medals at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The Asean athletes who won silver and bronze will also be rewarded free flights, but only for five and two years, respectively.
“What an Olympics this was for Asean. AirAsia, which has its roots in Asean, wants to reward those who gave us so much joy,” said AirAsia CEO Tan Sri Tony Fernandes on his Facebook page.
“Also they taught and reminded us never to give up on your dreams and never stop believing you can be the best in the world,” he added.
Eligible athletes can now fly to any of the more than 120 destinations within AirAsia and AirAsia X's extensive network in Asia, Australia, the Middle East and Africa, Bernama reports.
The Asean athletes who won gold medal at Rio 2016 include Joseph Schooling from Singapore, Liliyana Natsir and Tontowi Ahmad from Indonesia, Hoang Xuan Vinh from Vietnam, and Sukanya Srisurat and Sopita Tanasan from Thailand.
“Thank you to all the medallists for making us dream and believe,” Tony Fernandes continued.
