Indonesian jazz pianist and child prodigy Joey Alexander is once again nominated at the biggest music awards of all time – the Grammys!
Earlier in February this year, the 13-year-old was reportedly the youngest Grammy nominee with nominations for best improvised jazz solo and best jazz instrumental album.
For the 59th Grammy Awards in 2017, the young pianist is once again nominated for best improvised jazz solo for his performance in the song “Countdown”, which appears on Joey's second album of the same name.
Next year, Joey will be going against some of the greatest names in the jazz industry including Ravi Coltrane, Fred Hersch, Brad Mehldau, and John Scofield.
On the more mainstream front, Beyoncé is leading the pack with a total of nine nominations including Album of the Year while Drake, Rihanna and Kanye West all earned eight nominations each.
The 59th annual Grammy Awards will take place on 12 February 2017 at Staples Center in Los Angeles, with James Corden hosting the event.
