The man who inspired the cockney phrase “It’s all gone Pete Tong” will be spinning music at Singapore next month on the first day of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series at the Singapore National Stadium.
British DJ Pete Tong who also works for BBC Radio 1, is not only known for his reliable radio services, but also his amazing performances at nightclubs and music festivals.
As one of Britain's most recognised DJs, Tong has been regarded as the “global ambassador for electronic music”.
His name was coined by English trance DJ Paul Oakenfold in the famous phrase “It's all gone Pete Tong”, where the name is used as rhyming slang for “a bit wrong”, Talk Talk reports
“It's All Gone Pete Tong” is also the title of a multiple award-winning Canadian movie in 2004 where Tong himself made a brief cameo in the film.
Furthermore, Tong also used the phrase for his club night at the nightclub Pacha in Ibiza and his nightly radio program in the United States on iHeartRadio's “Evolution” EDM format platform.
“Having Pete Tong perform at the HSBC World Rugby Singapore Sevens is in line with what we aim to deliver; a tournament that’s not only for rugby fans, but for everyone seeking a unique sports and party experience” explained Low Teo Ping, Rugby Singapore’s Chairman as quoted by Inside Sport.
“Rain or Shine, spectators can watch world-class rugby, rock their hearts out to great music under the domed roof of the Singapore National Stadium and enjoy a family-friendly carnival around the Singapore Sports Hub,” he added.
