Malaysian songbird Yuna continues to make her home country proud!
The singer’s song “On Ghost Ridge” which was featured in a documentary on Native American rights titled “100 Years: One Woman’s Fight for Justice”, has been longlisted for the Best Original Song in 2017 Academy Awards a.k.a., The Oscars.
The song was written by Emmy award-winning composer Nicholas Pike and it was among the 91 songs longlisted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for the 89th Academy Awards next year.
This isn’t the first time that Yuna’s song is longlisted for the Oscars. In 2014, her song “Shine Your Way”, which she performed together with American band Owl City for the movie, “The Croods” made the Best Original Song longlist but didn’t get shortlisted in the end.
The shortlist will be announced on 24 January 2017 while the main ceremony will take place on 26 February 2017.
On the other hand, Malay language film “Redha” by Tunku Mona Riza has been selected as Malaysia’s official entry to the Oscars this year, in hopes that it would get nominated under the Best Foreign Film category.
