Malaysian pride Yuna is about to share the stage with some of the biggest names in the music industry!
The “Crush” singer has announced on her Facebook page that she will be performing at Essence Festival, an annual music festival known as “the party with a purpose”, which is the largest event celebrating African-American culture and music in the United States.
Started in 1994 by Essence, a magazine aimed primarily towards African-American women, Essence Fest has previously featured tons of renowned performers, figures and supporters from the African-American community such as Destiny’s Child, Alicia Keys, Stevie Wonder, Prince, Aretha Franklin, Lionel Richie, Chris Rock, Barack Obama, Rihanna, Janet Jackson, Usher, Mariah Carey and more.
This year, Yuna has been given the honour to perform at the significant festival alongside huge names from the industry like Diana Ross, John Legend, Chaka Khan, Mary J Blige, Solange, and Shaggy among others.
“This year’s Festival line-up puts women at the forefront of an incredible weekend of entertainment featuring more than 40 of the world’s most gifted artists and performers,” Essence President Michelle Ebanks said in a statement obtained by Entertainment Weekly.
Essence Festival will take place from 29 June to 2 July 2017 in New Orleans.
