Malaysian singer Jessie Chung is set to release her first Malay EP which will include a duet with local singing icon Fauziah Latiff, lovingly known as “Jee” by her fans.
“Fauziah and I, we’re going to do a duet for my upcoming Malay language album,” she confessed during the media celebration of her latest album “Be Strong” which had reached platinum status in Malaysia.
The collaboration happened after Jessie performed Fauziah’s most famous hit, “Dia”, during her “Love Unity” concert in Malaysia two years ago.
Fauziah Latiff and also Ziana Zain were the guest performers at the concert.
Though the title of the EP is yet to be revealed, Jessie said that it will consist of three songs including her duet with Fauziah, a pop rock song, and a slow number.
Jessie also hoped that the extended play will be able to be completed by the end of this year.
Although she sings mostly in Chinese and recently in English, Jessie is no stranger to singing Malay songs.
Apart from “Dia”, she also sang Sheila Majid’s “Sinaran” during her 2015 concert at the Megastar Arena.
She also translated one of her successful hits, “Tearless Sky”, which she dedicated to her cancer patients – to the Malay language titled “Langit Membiru”.
So far, Jessie has released seven Chinese albums and two English albums.
Both of her English albums; “There You Are” and “Be Strong” achieved platinum certification, selling over 15 thousand copies.
Apart from her upcoming Malay EP, Jessie will also hold her first concert in Australia this coming October.
