This “Evolution of Malaysian Music” by Kyoto Protocol is too awesome!

Spanning over 60 years of Malaysian music, local band Kyoto Protocol had picked to cover 16 songs to celebrate the evolution of Malaysian pop songs via their latest video, "Evolusi Muzik Malaysia | Evolution of Malaysian Music (part 1)".

"To celebrate #Merdeka59 and Malaysia Day 2016 we take you on a journey through Malaysian pop music, from the 50s up to the modern form that we still love today." state the band on their Facebook page.

The 9-minute single-take video sees the five piece band's members; Fuad Alhabshi (vocals and guitar), Gael Oliveres (vocals and keyboard), Hairi Haneefa (guitar), Shakeil Bashir (bass) and Shanjeev Reddy (Drums); standing in front of a projector that plays the music videos of the songs that they are covering.

As the smooth transitions of the songs are commendable, the video also successfully delivers a sense of nostalgia especially through songs like, P. Ramlee's "Pok Pok Bujang Lapok", Search's "Isabella", Sheila Majid's "Sinaran", OAG's "60s TV" and more.

Of course the medley wouldn't be complete without the band's very own song, "Pussycat", making its entry at the very end of the video.

As the title implies that this is only part one, we sure are hoping that Kyoto Protocol will be releasing a part two next!

Hey, the band might even perform it live when they play at the upcoming Rockaway 2016.

Here is the full list of the songs covered by Kyoto Protocol in the video:

A. Ramlie - Oh Fatima
M. Osman - Suzana
P. Ramlee - Pok Pok Bujang Lapok
Alleycats - Andainya Kau Pergi Dulu
Black Dog Bone - Khayalan
Search - Isabella
Sudirman - Chow Kit Road
Zainal Abidin - Hijau
Sheila Majid - Sinaran
Manbai - Kau Ilhamku
OAG - 60s TV
Butterfingers - Girl Friday
Innuendo - Belaian Jiwa
Hujan - Pagi Yang Gelap
Estrella - Stay
Meet Uncle Hussain - Lagu Untukmu
Kyoto Protocol - Pussycat

Two reasons behind the Brangelina split

One of the biggest and most famous celebrity couples of all time is calling it quits – Brangelina is officially over!

After two years of marriage, and more than a decade of being together, Angelina Jolie, 41 has filed for divorce from her husband, Brad Pitt, 52, citing "irreconcilable differences".

There are various rumours as to why the couple split, one that involves an affair between Pitt and his "Allied" co-star Marion Cotillard, but the real reason, according to Jolie herself, is because she is not happy with the way Pitt was parenting the children, TMZ reports.

According to sources, Jolie was "fed up" with Pitt's consumption of weed and "anger problems" which she feels is becoming dangerous for the children.

Though the rumour regarding Pitt's affair with Cotillard has been circling the net, Jolie's attorney Robert Offer confirmed that there was no alleged "third person" and her decision was only "for the health of the family."

According to the court documents, the couple separated on 15 September 2016, and Jolie is seeking physical custody of their six children, with visitation rights for Pitt.

"I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the well-being of our kids," said Brad Pitt.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt got married in August 2014 and they have been together since 2004 after meeting on the set of the 2005 film "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" while Brad Pitt was still married to actress Jennifer Aniston.

Mysterious masked DJ Marshmello will be coming to Zouk Club KL this coming October, and we assure you that he is indeed the real deal!

Last week, Zouk Singapore was under fire for allegedly ‘allowing’ a fake DJ Marshmello to get on stage.

Singaporean DJ Jade Rasif, who held a residency at Zouk Singapore and is a huge fan of Marshmello ranted on her social media pages after finding out that the DJ in the costume was actually a fake.

The misunderstanding was soon cleared up by Zouk Singapore as well as performing DJ duo Bounce Squad who issued an official statement on each of their Facebook pages, stating that the fake Marshmello was just someone whom they met at a cosplay event and was invited by the DJs to get on stage and have fun with them that night.

Bounce Squad added that there was no prior announcement of Marshmello coming to Zouk Singapore so it is no surprised that the person in the costume is fake, as Zouk couldn’t possibly want to disregard one of the highest ranking international DJs of all time.

So how do we know this time it is the real deal? Because Zouk KL in Malaysia has officially announced it on their Facebook page and they had even tagged the real Marshmello in the post.

Marshmello will be performing in Malaysia on 5 October 2016 as part of his worldwide “Ritual Tour”.

Other details are yet to be announced, stay tuned on Zouk KL Facebook page and website for more info.

However, he is currently in talks with a rapidly expanding global food and beverage company that is offering him generous conditions, including share options.

“Manpower is a longstanding problem in Singapore, so I want to spend some time studying the details and work out a win-win deal for both parties,” he added.
