Listen to the music from the Sahara Desert region of northern Mali as Tuareg musicians from the Grammy-winning group Tinariwen perform at their maiden concert in Malaysia this November.
Formed in late 70s, the band started to gain a following outside the Sahara region in early 2000s, but their popularity rose internationally with the release of the critically acclaimed “Aman Iman” in 2007.
The band refers to themselves as “military artists” because most of the original members were rebel fighters from the Tuareg rebel community.
Their fifth album “Tassili” (2011), won the Award for Best World Music Album at the 54th Grammy Awards in 2012.
Tinariwen’s upcoming concert in Kuala Lumpur will be part of their 2017 Asian tour which also includes stops in Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong, and Tokyo.
Presented by non-governmental organisation PUSAKA, Malaysia will be the band’s only appearance in Southeast Asia.
The concert will be held at the KL Live, Life Centre in Kuala Lumpur on 13 November 2017 from 8pm to 10pm.
Limited VIP tickets will be sold at RM250, while the seated Premium price will be at RM160, and the General tickets priced at RM120.
