The latest edition of the Final Fantasy gaming series, “Final Fantasy XV” features Malaysian culture and food in one of its fictional town named ‘Lestallum’.

Malaysians were stunned when the fictional town in the game contained foods that resembled Malaysia’s Roti Canai, Satay and Teh Tarik.

In addition to that, the game also incorporated the ‘Mamak’ and ‘Lepak’ culture in the town through its laid back residents and lifestyle.

Turns out, the foods that were in the was designed on purpose by leading game designer, Wan Hazmer Wan Abd Halim.

Working for Square Enix-the company that designed and developed Final Fantasy XV- the Malaysian tried to incorporate the Malaysian way of laidback living in the game.

Speaking to The Star Online, the designer said that “One of the towns that you'll come across is Lestallum. Its food culture is inspired by our Mamak stall culture”.

“So yes, for the first time in Final Fantasy history, you'll be able to see Roti Canai, Satay and Teh Tarik,” added Wan.

Not stopping there, Wan also tried to put in some more local flavour in the gameplay by persuading the developers to include ‘Pontianak’ and ‘Orang Minyak’ in the game which was rejected for not fitting the Final Fantasy world.

Final Fantasy XV takes place in the fictional world of Eos where all the world's countries are under the empire of Niflheim.
Great works on the "Teh Tarik" graphics

The game’s only playable character, Noctis Lucis Caelum, goes on a quest to retake his homeland from the notorious Niflheim.

The game was released on 29 November 2016 and is available on all PlayStation and Xbox One platforms.
