Arguably the most successful Rock band of all-time, Guns N’ Roses had confirmed that they will be making a one last stop in Southeast Asia and it will be in Thailand, Bangkok.

The band is set to rock the soul out of Bangkok on 28 February 2017 at the SCG Stadium, Bangkok.

Fans were already speculating the news on social media sites but it was made official after IMC Live Group, the official concert promoter posted on their Facebook page:-

“It is now official! The biggest, baddest and meanest rock band - Guns N' Roses - are closing the Southeast Asian leg of their unprecedented Not In This Lifetime Tour in Thailand this 28th February 2017 at SCG Stadium, Bangkok.”

The show organiser also said that the concert will satisfy all types of fans from the mainstream ones to the more hard-core ones.

With the trailblazing trio of Axl Rose, Slash and Duff McKagan performing together for the first time since the 1993 ‘Use Your Illusion Tour’, fans can certainly look forward for a rocking time at the show.

For fans wondering on the peculiar name of the tour, it came after the famous Axl Rose interview in 2012 when asked about a potential reunion and he replied with "not in this lifetime.”

Pushing all differences aside, the band that produced some greatest rock hits such as “Paradise City”, “Nightrain” and the ever memorable 90’s hit “Sweet Child O’ Mine” is back with a bang again and fans who waited for a lifetime to catch them live can now do so.

Malaysian actress Nora Danish just keeps making the local news.

Earlier this month, she became a hot topic when her comments on income tax were misunderstood, and now she’s in the spotlight again with her unique hijab/shawl creation which prompted some interesting reactions from netizens.

One of her new shawl designs from her collection called Owl by Nora Danish, features a front zipper which enables those wearing it to cover their whole face by pulling down the zipper.

The new design is called the Owl EZip which is said to be inspired by Princess Jasmine from Disney’s “Aladdin”.

A photo posted by Nora Danish (@noradanish) on

According to Nora, the function of the zip is for those who would like to cover their face while sleeping on a plane, or for those who love things that are unique and different.

Even though her new shawl design has been receiving tons of orders (according to the actress herself), some netizens just can’t help poking fun at the design, questioning the function of it and even comparing the looks of it to Ultraman.

“Nora Danish’s new shawl is the most stupid thing I've ever heard and seen throughout this whole year,” said one Twitter user.

“Sorry, but Nora Danish's latest shawl is the dumbest creation ever! (Yeah, at least she tried to transform herself into an alien)”, another commented.

But there are some people who find her odd creation creative, bold and even beautiful.

“Am I the only one that actually likes the zip shawl by Nora Danish? But I think it only looks good because she is wearing it,” one netizen said.

This is not the first time that Nora Danish has become a hot topic amongst netizens for her shawl design.

Earlier this month, she was criticised for wearing a nun-like hijab during the launch of her new collection.

‘Malaysia Want Coldplay’ petition catching fire

$

In frustration of British band Coldplay's live concert in Singapore being sold within 90 minutes yesterday, some Malaysian fans have decided to create an online petition to request a Coldplay concert in Malaysia as well.

The petition gathered more than 1,500 signatures online in only a few hours of its opening and has gathered more than 4,000 shares on Facebook and other social media outlets within a day.

Well, with the recent snippets of Coldplay’s live performance from India with Oscar winner, AR Rahman and fan footages from their U.K. concert, fans are craving for Coldplay more than ever.

Although the chances of the petition to be a successful one remains thin, one can certainly hope that in this day and age where standing still (Mannequin Challenge) and flipping water bottles challenges are going viral, this petition can garner enough attention and achieve success too.

The power of social media is undisputable when it comes to this as there are a number of times where a plea on social media worked in favour of the fans.

Recently, an Irish electronic dance music (EDM) fan tweeted Dutch EDM star, Martin Garrix that he managed to buy a ticket for the star’s show but could not afford the flight cost.

Much to his and the whole internet’s amazement, Martin replied to the tweet and even bought him a pair of return tickets so he can attend the show.

This goes on to show that social media can do wonders and with the right amount of luck, miracles do happen.

So, we’re guessing the Brit pop band’s fans would have to wait and see whether or not the petition works, but for now it’s definitely worth a shot.

Hopeful fans can sign the petition at https://www.gopetition.com/petitions/malaysia-wants-coldplay.html

Another K-Pop star has decided to drop by Malaysian shores!

South Korean singer Hwang Chi-yeul will be having a fan meeting in Malaysia for the first time next year at Genting Highlands!

The 33-year-old singer recently competed in season 4 of “I Am a Singer” which ended in April 2016, alongside Coco Lee, Hacken Lee, LaLa Hsu, among others, and ended up as the second runner-up in the finals.

Though the singer only achieved mainstream recognition after participating in Mnet’s “I Can See Your Voice” in 2015, he actually made his debut into the music industry in 2007, releasing two albums in the same year.

But after his previous management company shut down due to financial difficulties, Hwang was forced to take on various part-time jobs including teaching at music schools as a vocal coach until late 2014.

The singer has now started to gain more and more success, with more songs topping the iTunes K-pop singles chart all around Asia, and he has been making plenty of appearances in TV shows and dramas too.

Also, the singer sang one of the soundtrack for the KBS drama “Moonlight Drawn by Clouds”, and coincidentally, the main star of the drama, Park Bo-gum, is coming to Malaysia this December!

Hwang Chi-yeul’s inaugural fan meeting in Malaysia will take place on 21 January 2017 at Arena of Stars, Genting Highlands, 8.30pm with ticket prices starting from RM184 to RM784.

Tickets can be purchased at galaxy.com.my.

Rock the World returns with smaller line-up and a single stage

Malaysia’s annual rock music festival, Rock the World, which is dubbed as one of the biggest in Malaysia, is ready for another round of head-banging music performances, featuring a strong line-up of local music giants.

However, compared to previous years, the line-up for this year’s Rock the World is a lot smaller despite featuring mostly big names like Disagree, Couple, Gerhana Ska Cinta, Hujan, Sekumpulan Orang Gila, Massacre Conspiracy, Oh Chentaku, Restraint, The Padangs, Plague of Happiness and more.

It is assumed that this year’s edition will have only one stage instead of the usual three stages due to the small line-up, and many netizens have even pointed out the obvious issue.

Other local talents performing at the festival include Daarchlea, Balok People, The Times AKA, Old Automatic Garbage, Republic of Brickfields, and Kugiran di Tepi Pantai – making it a total of 16 performers at Rock the World 2016!

It is not known whether this is the final line-up of the festival, but we sure do hope that the organisers will announce more names before the festival commences on 17 December 2016.

Rock the World 2016 will be held at Car Park B, Stadium National Bukit Jalil.

Ticket prices are yet to be announced.

Coldplay fans, your prayers have been heard!

After the overwhelming response received, Coldplay and organiser Live Nation have announced an additional show for Singapore on 31 March 2017, 7.30pm at the National Stadium!

Apart from that, extra CAT 5 (Standing Pen A) and CAT 6 (Standing Pen B) tickets will also be released for the first show on 1 April 2017.

Tickets for both shows will be available to the public on sportshub.com.sg, tomorrow onwards, 25 November 2016 at 10am.

According to the organiser, each transaction is limited to a maximum of four tickets across all categories.

Previously, when tickets for the first show went on sale to the public on Monday, 21 November, they were all sold out within 90 minutes.

Some of the tickets were even resold at a ridiculously high price – up to RM24k – but the organiser has voided some of the tickets resold online at inflated prices.

“We would like to urge all fans to refrain from purchasing tickets through unauthorised resellers as these may have already been voided and holders will be denied access to venue,” the organiser said on their Facebook.

Even in Malaysia, fans have started an online petition, hoping that Coldplay will somehow play in Malaysia as well. Let’s see if that happens!

Malaysia ends F1 race for good, Singapore in negotiations

Malaysia has confirmed to cancel the Formula One (F1) race for good after 2018, and Singapore may follow in the country’s footsteps.

According to Malaysia’s Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz, the country will no longer extend the F1 contract when its current deal expires in 2018 as the hosting of the event is very costly and brings no returns to the country.

“F1 attendance is dropping and there is less attraction to it now. We are spending RM300 million a year (for the race),” he said as quoted by New Straits Times.

The remark was made after hearing reports that Singapore too may end its contract after 2017 because it had achieved what it wanted with the Grand Prix, though F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone is currently in negotiations to keep Singapore on its calendar.

“My words were taken in a funny way. What I said was simple - no decision has been taken yet,” he told Straits Times.

“Negotiations are ongoing and will be sorted out shortly... before the end of the year, I'm sure. We want to extend long-term. We'll see what happens.”

“Mad Max: Fury Road” now has a ‘Made in China’ version

The posters look a tad bit similar to each other, do they not?

George Miller’s jaw dropping action flick, “Mad Max Fury Road” now has its Chinese counterpart by the name of “Mad Shelia”.

Causing a buzz on social media, “Mad Shelia’s” trailer seems to be a scene by scene remake of the 2015 Hollywood film.

But from the looks of the trailer - in terms of its quality and production pieces - it can be deduced that the movie had been made with half the budget of its Hollywood counterpart which got some netizens to brand it as ‘Mad Max: Made in China’.

Even the movie’s name is said to be of poor proof reading skills as it is supposedly should be ‘Sheila’, an Australian slang for ‘women’.

This is not the only time a movie rip-off has caused a buzz on social media as recently a Russian version of Marvel’s “Guardians of Galaxy” called “Guardians” also received the same reaction.

Mad Max was first released in 1979 as an Australian post-apocalyptic dystopian action film directed by George Miller with Mel Gibson in the lead.

In 2015, a new take on the original film titled “Mad Max Fury Road” was released which stars Hollywood A-lister Tom Hardy as Max Rockatansky and Charlize Theron as Imperator Furiosa.
