Malaysian singer Yuna has finally uploaded photos of herself with her boyfriend Adam Sinclair, the younger brother of Malaysian actor Ashraf Sinclair and hostess Aishah Sinclair.

Rumours of the couple have started since September 2015, and though none of them have ever admitted to being in a relationship, it is quite obvious as the two are always seen together and Adam has been posting quite a lot of photos of Yuna on his own Instagram.

Last weekend, Yuna finally uploaded a photo of her with Adam wearing matching traditional Malay attires, with the caption “This guy”.

A photo posted by Yuna (@yunamusic) on

This is the first time that the singer has ever posted a photo of her and Adam together on her Instagram.

The couple attended the wedding ceremony of their dear friend AG Coco, the guitarist of Malaysian band Hujan, who had previously worked with Yuna on several of her songs including “Terukir di Bintang” and “Lelaki”.

“Had to skip the Instagram tiles tonight, because one of my best friends got married to his dream girl!! If you love what I do, one of the reasons I do it is because of this guy, telling me to go after my dreams and always supported me no matter what! Most talented producer songwriter guitarist with the kindest heart! Congratulations Ag and Zue! Love you both and so happy for you two! Thanks for having us!,” Yuna posted.

Malaysian darling Yuna has dropped her latest music video titled “Best Love” from her album “Chapters”, and it is very different from what we’ve seen so far!

In the new music video, the 30-year-old songstress takes her fans on a super immersive 360-degree Virtual Reality experience, so it will feel as if we are there with her!

“This is definitely my first time working on a 360 music video,” Yuna said to InStyle in an interview. “I just know my hardcore fans are going to be excited about it.”

Directed by Celia Rowlson-Hall, the 360-degree music video is pretty simple as the singer is seen on a stage with dancers dancing all around, and fans can wander around on the stage, making the experience a truly interactive one.

“'Best Love' is a song about how you are always looking for something that’s [perfect] … but ... it doesn’t have to be perfect, it just has to be something that fits you,” Yuna said.

“If you just work on that one thing that's like important to you, that has been supportive of you, who has been loving you all this time, if you are able to see that, then that is your best love.”

Fans of Yuna can enjoy her new music video on the Life VR app which is available for download on both iOS and Android.

Is Lee Min Ho coming to Malaysia again?

"Boys over Flowers” fame, Lee Min Ho is set to return to Malaysia again after just recently gracing our shores back in
March for a Korean store opening in Malaysia.

Now, the actor is rumoured to make an appearance on 5
January 2017, in conjunction with the launch of a brand new smartphone from OPPO, The OPPO R9s.

Why and how you ask? Well, recently,
OPPO released a poster that teases their new international ambassador for their latest smartphone.

The poster featuring a male artist looking sideways can be hard to guess for mainstream fans but for diehards, its easy pickings.

In addition to that, the wordings in the poster also tease a star with Lee in his surname as the poster reads ’Final-Lee’ instead of ‘finally’.

Not to mention, OPPO has already released a teaser video which serves as a clue to who the mysterious ambassador is.

Even though the video doesn’t reveal the full face of the actor, it is already quite obvious!
So, that confirms the man behind the poster but as to whether he will be making an appearance or not is still a question that needs an answer.

Rewind 2016: Highlights and heartbreaks

Another year has come and gone, and 2016 is without a doubt a year full of surprises and bizarre incidents!

From the shocking U.S. election results, to the ever-so-random mannequin challenge, the sad deaths of several notable names like David Bowie and Carrie Fisher, the increasing popularity of nonsense tunes like “PPAP” and the revival of “Pokémon” via Pokémon Go – there’s just so much going on within a year!

So, before we wrap up and bid farewell to the wonderful year, let’s take a quick rewind and see all the major highlights and heartbreaks of 2016!

When the Academy Awards AKA Oscars announced its nominees earlier this year in January, people were furious that only white actors and actresses were among the chosen few in the top four categories – and not to mention, for the second consecutive year! The trending hashtag #OscarsSoWhite has surfaced and went viral all over social media, spawning sarcastic memes and jokes along the way. It is also the year where plenty of famous celebrities decided to boycott the prestigious awards ceremony and some of them include Spike Lee, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, Snoop Dogg, and Michael Moore.

Celebrity deaths

So many famous icons and known figures have left the world this year, but their honourable contributions will continue to live on in many of our memories in years to come. From chart-topping musicians, to acclaimed actors and sporting heroes, 2016 is truly the year of loss. Some of the names include David Bowie, Alan Rickman, Prince, Chyna, Muhammad Ali, Gene Wilder, Anton Yelchin, Alan Thicke, George Michael, Carrie Fisher and more!

#RunningManChallenge

Not the famous South Korean “Running Man” series, but a street dance move from the late 80s and is known as the new nae nae or harlem shake. The dance move was performed most notably by Janet Jackson in the video of her hit “Rhythm Nation”, but was made famous by several American college basketball players in April. The dance involves a close-armed running man-style usually to the tune of the 1995 song “My Boo” by Ghost Town DJs. The phenomenon had soon spread on social media and was copied by others including celebrities like Chris Brown, Kevin Hart, Tyga, Von Miller and Kyrie Irving.

Killing of Harambe

Harambe was the name of a 17-year-old Western lowland silverback gorilla who was shot to death at the Cincinnati Zoo after a child fell into his enclosure in late May 2016. The incident sparked huge controversy among netizens who blamed the parents for not looking after their child properly, and the zoo’s choice of killing the ape. After the killing, Harambe became the subject of multiple viral memes and one of the popular ones is the meme “Dicks Out for Harambe” which is said to be a sign of respect to the innocent gorilla.

When Pokémon Go was released back in July, it immediately became a global phenomenon, and was one of the most used and profitable mobile apps in 2016, having been downloaded more than 500 million times worldwide. The augmented-reality game received mixed reviews from critics as it promotes physical activity but also exposes users to various dangers. Though the craze has died down a little due to the slow updates, it quickly saw a surge in revenue once again when the first featured event, the Halloween Event was released.

A nonsensical song performed by Pikotaro, a stage persona of the Japanese professional comedian Kosaka Daimaoh, which has gone viral ever since Justin Bieber shared it on his social media platform. Hailed as the new “Gangnam Style” by various media outlets, the official music video of the song has now been viewed over 100 million times on YouTube, spawned multiple hilarious parodies, and reached No. 1 on the Billboard Japan Hot 100 chart, becoming the shortest single to chart on the Billboard Hot 100.

Brexit
Short for “British Exit”, Brexit is simply the withdrawal of United Kingdom from the European Union (EU) following a referendum held on 23 June 2016 in which majority of British citizens voted to exit the EU. The news had triggered various mixed reactions on social media, causing the British pound to fall to its lowest level in decades since 1985. A petition calling for a second referendum attracted more than four million signatures, but was rejected by the government on 9 July 2016.

Another viral phenomenon is where people remain frozen like mannequins while a moving camera films them, usually to the song “Black Beatles” by Rae Sremmurd playing in the background. Started by a bunch of students in early October, the challenge was purely made for fun and has no particular reason or cause behind it. Some of the notable celebrities who participated in the trend include Adele, Taylor Swift, Michelle Obama, Hilary Clinton, Dwayne Johnson, Britney Spears and more.

The death of Thailand’s former ruler Bhumibol Adulyadej has left a deep scar on the people of Thailand. The king who was also known as King Bhumibol the Great was the ninth monarch of Thailand, and was the world's longest-serving head of state and the longest-reigning monarch in Thai history, serving for over 70 years. The government declared a year-long mourning period for Bhumibol where the citizens are asked to refrain from entertainment.

United States Presidential Election
The 2016 presidential election was one of the hottest topics throughout the year, and thanks to it, Donald Trump who wins the election, became this year’s most Googled person/name in the world! Going up against Hilary Clinton, Trump obtained the required majority to become President-elect of the United States, winning 30 states with 306 pledged electors out of 538. His win has sparked mostly negative reactions on social media, and was characterized as an “upset” and as “shocking” by the media. After Trump’s victory, large protests broke out across the United States with signs such as “Not my president” and “We don't accept the president-elect”. The hashtags #Anti-trump and #NotMyPresident have also trended on Twitter. Some of the celebrities who took part in the protests include Lady Gaga, Madonna, Josh Hutcherson, and Katy Perry among others.

Estranged almost disbanded after getting scammed

Malaysian alternative rock band Estranged almost disbanded after getting scammed by a con woman named Eziana Abd Aziz who impersonated as Apple Music’s Publicity Manager and invited the band to perform at a non-existent Apple Music Festival in London back in December 2016.

At a press conference held for the media today, the band confessed that they felt embarrassed and demotivated after realising that they were cheated, and thought of “taking a break from this whole thing”.

(L-R) Rich Gimbang, Din Hormatov and Nor "Enha" Hanafi.

“It is very demotivating and embarrassing because she’s not a foreigner, she’s a local,” said vocalist Rich Gimbang.

“She gave us false hopes and the news about us going to London is already known nationwide.”

“A lot of our friends from the media and music industry were supporting us, telling us how proud they were of us because we were going to bring Malaysia’s name to an international level, but when we found out that everything was a lie, it broke our hearts,” he continued.

The band members at the press conference.

According to Estranged’s lawyer, Mr. Thomas Philip, Eziana is a not a typical con woman as many of the documents that she forged seems very legit, including the emails from the High Commission of Malaysia, London, as well as the U.K. Visa and Immigration documents, the banking payment slip from Credit Suisse, the Credit Suisse claim forms, and the Apple Music invitation itself.

Estranged together with their lawyers.

Going through the timeline of events, the band members said they met Eziana in October after she approached their rhythm guitarist Din Hormatov via Facebook.

After getting offered to perform in London, the band had spent a lot to prepare for their overseas trip.

They even rejected offers for shows and performances in Malaysia, thus having no income at all during that month itself and the months following that

Estranged also claimed that Eziana had previously conned several U.K. artistes and she even used the band’s name to invite other Malaysian artistes to perform in London as well.

Photo of Eziana Abd Aziz.

As for now, Eziana had already deactivated several of her accounts including her Whatsapp and emails, and although her Facebook account still exists, she is unreachable and has blocked all of the band members from her account.

A lawyer’s email has already been sent to Ms. Eziana and the case shall be taken to high court on Monday, 16 January 2017, 9am where a damages claim amounting to more than RM100,000 is being seeked.

JJ from MeatMen cooks in the streets for "Wok With Us"

TLC Southeast Asia is presenting a brand new cooking show that takes you to the streets of Singapore, Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City, Manila and Kuala Lumpur!

Dubbed as “Wok With Us”, the series presents JJ from The MeatMen, Singapore’s online cooking channel, who will show audiences how simple it is to whip up their favourite Southeast Asian local dishes at home – however, the Singaporean cook will be cooking them all outdoors!

The MeatMen started off in 2013 with four very good friends who wanted to cook and drink beer over the weekends.

The MeatMen is made up of JJ, 33, Chris, 34, Yingda, 33, and Jon, 19.

“So it all started with JJ’s obsession to record the whole process of food creation through the lens. That passion soon spread on to the rest of us, and before long we were infected with the food-frenzy craze,” said The MeatMen.

After discovering a huge demand for quality Asian food recipes, the four guys began the journey of simplifying and bringing local recipe videos to social media.

Following the same concept as The MeatMen, TLC decided to collaborate with the Singapore cooking channel and take foodies on a trip to experience the street cuisine of Southeast Asia with their brand new series called "Wok With Us"!

Hi JJ, what’s the whole show about?
Basically in “Wok With Us”, we are going to various Asian cities like Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh, Manila, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur to shoot local recipe videos in an outdoor setting – so that is basically what the show is all about!

JJ cooking at Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur.

How did the collaboration with TLC happen?
So the TLC people approached us because they are fans of The MeatMen! [laughs] They contacted us first and told us about their plans, and we ran through some ideas and came up with this project.

How did your passion with food first start?
If you look at my figure you would immediately know that I’m someone who likes to eat a lot! [laughs]

But well, my dad used to be a hawker, and my grandfather was a butcher. So all along my family has always been in the food business. But when my dad passed away I didn’t take over the business because I was doing animation at that time, and back then, I didn’t really know how to cook very well even though I have the passion for it. But in today’s age, information is very easy to obtain, and after over 200 hundred recipes and videos, you will eventually get better – it’s a very simple formula.

JJ carefully  decorates the local dish.

So, who came up with the title for the show?
I would say it was a collaborative effort. Because coming up with a catchy name for a project is very tricky, and since most of my cooking involves a wok, we thought that it would be a good idea to put that in the title as I would be walking around with a wok on my back.

It is also a word rhyme with the word “walk”, because I’m travelling around and it’s like asking the audience to cook and travel with us, so we feel that the name is quite suitable.

How was the production like? Any challenges faced during the shooting?
The production is very interesting because we were shooting and cooking outdoors, so there are a lot of location challenges such as the unpredictable weather, which you really cannot control.

For example in Ho Chi Minh, while we were cooking and shooting on a bridge, there was suddenly a heavy downpour that came without warning, so we had to carry all the cooking utensils and ingredients and take shelter under the bridge. But luckily, the rain came just after we finished filming our final shot!

JJ cooked mutton soup for the Kuala Lumpur leg of the series.

Why are you the only one from The MeatMen that participated in this project?
Because I’m the only one that cooks in The MeatMen. [laughs]

Initially, I was the one who started the whole shooting and cooking for MeatMen, and it started as a hobby. Since I came from a production background, I’m used to shooting and editing videos.

So at first, I did everything myself, but some of the other members began to join in as an excuse to hang out at my place to eat and drink – and also to run away from their wives! [laughs]

How do you feel working with TLC on such a big project?
It’s very different because in The MeatMen, I have a comfortable cooking studio with an air conditioner and everything else that I need, and I don’t have to worry about weather or lighting, so everything is very consistent, that’s why I can cook a lot of dishes in a day.

But outdoors is completely different because you have to deal with weather and other outdoor disturbances and elements. Nevertheless, the experience is very interesting because you get to travel to all kinds of places and see different types of people and environments, and you get to show the viewers a different side of the city.

For The MeatMen, usually you would shoot your own cooking process, but this time someone else will be shooting it for you. How do you find this different from your usual setup?
Of course, cooking in front of camera is very different from cooking off camera, especially when picking ingredients because you have to choose the ones that are presentable in front of a camera. You also have to know when you needed to pause so that the director can capture the ‘money shot’!

I shot other chefs before, so what I see is that the chefs are very good at cooking, but they are very cautious of the camera, so sometimes they might hesitate on their next step. Even though we keep telling them to cook naturally like how they would in their own kitchen, they would still get very nervous.

The cameraman is getting the best angle of the dish.

What happens to all the leftovers from the cooking?
For The MeatMen, we try to finish them up, but for this show, it is a bit more challenging due to the safety of the food. Because the food has been exposed to the outdoors for a certain period of time, we feel that it is not very safe for consumption. So even when a passerby comes along, asking whether they can have a taste of the food, we would gently reject them because as much as I hate food wastage, I think it is a safer if they don’t have it.

Of all the dishes you've cooked, which one is your favourite?
Before production started, I actually flew down to some of the places just to eat. Because to me, it is very important for me to try out the food first before cooking it, rather than just blindly follow recipes from books, because I need to know how the food made by the locals really taste like. So, when we were in Manila, we tasted twenty items just for research! [laughs]

If you ask which one is my favourite, I guess it is the one from Manila, because Thai and Vietnamese food has travelled the world. Almost every country has a Thai or Vietnamese restaurant, it’s just that the flavors from the original countries are more refined and of course, they tasted better.

But I find Filipino food to be the most interesting because I've never tried them before, and you don’t see a lot of Filipino restaurants back in Singapore. So after tasting real Filipino food, my perception on it has sort of changed slightly.

Throughout this show, has any part of you changed?
Yes, thanks to sunburn it is the colour of my skin! It is so obvious because my skin is originally fair, so it will take a while for the colour to go back to my original tone. [laughs]

Look at the different skin tones!

In your opinion, how is the show different from every other outdoor cooking show?
The show will be slightly different from the others because there’s no host. Unlike every other cooking show where there’s a host telling you what to do, this show has no one doing so. Similar to the concept on The MeatMen, the reason we don't show our faces or we don’t talk on the show is because we believe that the food is the star, and not us. That is my angle for the channel because I want the food to be the main focus of everything!

Inspired by the comical characters developed and popularised by Afdlin and his late friend, Boboi became a phenomena among local TV viewers with a TV series adaptation and also a comic book series.

With the success of the comic book series, the 45-year-old decided to develop the digital version of it, featuring stories in still picture or animated versions, with rich audio and high quality visual content.

“There are less production of print comics nowadays because everything has gone digital and a lot of people have started to use smartphones to get entertainment and news updates,” said the comedian to Utusan Online.

“That’s why I decided to create the digital version of my comics so that fans can purchase and read the contents via their smartphones.”

Launched in November last year, the app is now available on the local Play Store and App Store for both Android and iPhone.

What a way to start a new year, and it’s not even April yet!

Malaysian singer-songwriter and filmmaker Namewee has gotten the local media fooled with his recent announcement claiming that his song has been picked as the theme song for the Hollywood movie, “The Great Wall”, and it is sang by one of the Four Heavenly Kings of Cantopop, Andy Lau.

“The first work of 2017 is out. I’m so proud to be able to write a song for Andy Lau. This is also my first time writing a theme song for a Hollywood movie, I’m really happy. Thank you to director Zhang Yimou for approaching me, I’m truly happy,” Namewee posted on his Facebook on 1 January.

Many of the local media immediately took the bait and covered the story as they believed the news to be real, but they soon found out that it was false and that they had been duped.

According to several news reports, the song was actually sung by none other than Namewee himself, who attempted to imitate Lau’s voice.

But it has also been reported that Namewee was really approached by the production company to write the theme song for the film, but his song was not chosen in the end.

So as a fun act of ‘revenge’, Namewee decided to release the song to the public, nonetheless, and his imitation of Andy Lau’s voice is quite spot on!

The real theme song of “The Great Wall” was sung by Wang Leehom featuring Tan Weiwei, and Namewee commented that he is honoured to lose to Wang.

Starring Matt Damon, Andy Lau, Jing Tian, Lu Han and more, “The Great Wall” focuses on the mystery and reason behind the construction of the Great Wall of China.

The national costume and evening gown for Miss Universe Malaysia 2016 Kiran Jassal had been unveiled yesterday at Marini's On 57, Kuala Lumpur, and it is certainly a jaw-dropping sight!

Designed by the talented designer duo Rizman Ruzaini, the national costume is a majestic glittery silver jumpsuit bearing the iconic landmark of Malaysia – The Petronas Twin Towers – on her shoulders and sleeves, giving an elegant and confident futuristic look!

Embellished with gorgeous multi-coloured Swarovski diamonds, the jumpsuit is also complemented with a diamond choker, representing the sky bridge that connects the two towers.

Meanwhile, the evening gown is a sparkly silver mermaid dress decorated with diamonds and crystals too!

Not many people are impressed with the national costume as they deemed it to be too exaggerated, but do bear in mind that in 2015, Thailand’s bizarre tuk-tuk dress won Best National Costume at Miss Universe pageant.

The 20-year-old beauty queen is expected wear the two gorgeous creations at the 65th annual Miss Universe Pageant on 30 January 2017 in Manila, Philippines.
