After announcing the date for their Bangkok show, rock legends Foo Fighters have announced Singapore to be the second Southeast Asia location to be a part of their upcoming world tour.

Just like Bangkok, this will be the band’s first concert in Singapore after more than 20 years. They last played in Singapore at the WTC Harbour Pavilion in 1996.

In 2012, the band was supposedly scheduled to perform in Singapore at the Padang for their Wasting Light Tour, but the show was cancelled as frontman Dave Grohl had throat issues and the doctor advised him to "take it easy on his voice".

Many other tour dates were also cancelled back then.

Foo Fighters is now set to return to Singapore at the National Stadium on 26 August 2017. Tickets will go on sale on 23 May, 10am via sportshub.com.sg.

The tickets are priced at SGD168 and SGD238 for standing, and SGD128, SGD168, SGD198 and SGD238 for seats.

Apart from Singapore and Bangkok, other Asian stops include Japan and South Korea.

Waitress in Hooters Jakarta to dress appropriately during Ramadan

The popular American breastaurant chain opened a branch in Jakarta, Indonesia almost two months ago, and unlike its American counterparts, the Indonesian outlet appears to be more family-friendly as it applies a no smoking rule and has no age restrictions, according to The Jakarta Post.

Nevertheless, it doesn’t change the fact that the restaurant still hires beautiful young girls who will still be wearing the Hooters’ iconic uniforms – tank top and short runner shorts.

Also, with the month of Ramadan drawing near, we wonder how Hooters will cope during the holy month since every year, there are always stories about certain nightlife businesses being forced to shut down by the government or extreme Islamist groups, out of respect to the Muslim community in Indonesia.

However, it would seem like Hooters Jakarta has already prepared for the occasion.

According to Coconuts Jakarta, the restaurant will have its waiters dress up more appropriately during the holy fasting month to show respect to the Indonesian customs and the fasting Muslims.

“What will be different is the uniform, for example. The top will feature a higher cut, and we’ll wear longer skirts instead of shorts,” said Hooters Jakarta General Manager Sherry Suradji.

Sherry also said that during the Ramadan month, Hooters Jakarta will also be serving special Ramadan items like takjil, which is a common food served during the fasting month.

5 things you can look forward to in Ramadan

$

The holy fasting month of Ramadan is getting closer and closer – like seriously, it’s Friday next week! During this season, there are a lot of things for many of us to look forward to, especially the Muslims.

While many non-Muslim peeps wonder why the month is so exciting for the Muslims, considering that they can’t really eat or drink for a whole month, many of the (female) Muslims see it as their annual diet routine just before the main festivity, Eid al-Fitr (Raya Aidilfitri) – because you definitely want to look your best during this day!

Though that might be one of the things people are excited about, there’s actually much more that we can expect during the month.

Here are the five main ones!

1.Ramadan bazaar
When we talk about Ramadan, the first thing that comes to mind is always the many Ramadan bazaars that pop up during the holy month. The Ramadan bazaar is basically a huge street food fiesta which serves a variety of local delicacies that usually comes in cheap and affordable prices. It is a place where the fasting Muslims buy food to break their fast later in the evening. Ramadan bazaar is also the one place that will bring non-Muslims and Muslims together under one roof.

2.The month of holiness
Ramadan isn’t called the holy month for nothing. For the Muslims, it is the month of repentance, the month of forgiveness, and also the month of blessings. It is during this month that the Muslims are encouraged to do more good deeds as they will receive more ‘pahala’ (rewards) compared to the other months. Not to say that Muslims shouldn’t do good deeds every other month, but if they commit one good deed in Ramadan, the pahala that they will receive is tenfold.

3.Go home earlier
Usually during Ramadan, most offices and schools will let their Muslim peers leave earlier so that they can prepare their meals or buy food from the Ramadan bazaar right before breaking their fast, and this is definitely something that many Muslims are looking forward to the most. While some non-Muslim friends may envy this special treatment, consider that those fasting have to skip their lunch, so it’s only fitting that they are allowed to leave earlier. But don’t be surprised, as there are also some places that don’t have this kind of treatment, but they’re usually places where the majority are non-Muslims.

4.Ramadan offers
Just like Ramadan bazaar, during the fasting month, you will see many restaurants or fast food chains serving special Ramadan meals or buffets for the Muslims to break their fast, but these offers usually starts around 7pm onwards daily. Nevertheless, this kind of offers can be enjoyed by both Muslims and also non-Muslims, and the meals served are usually a lot more affordable compared to normal pricing. Apart from that, there are also several eateries which will serve pre-dawn meal or delivery early in the morning around 4am to 5am for suhur, the time before fasting begins.

5.Get together
Ramadan is also the month where we would get together with of our friends and family to break fast and have meals together. Unlike every other month where you can choose to have your dinner anytime you want, in Ramadan, the time is fixed, and it is best enjoyed when you are with your friends and family because a lot of Ramadan offers are catered to a large group of people, so it makes sense for friends and family to come together during this holy month.

“Your Name” is getting a parody, and it’s porn!

Japanese anime film “Kimi no Na Wa” or better known in the English-speaking world as “Your Name” is getting a parody – and a porn version at that! (Eww!)

Riding on the success of Makoto Shinkai’s original film, the porn parody version is produced by adult film production house JAV (Japanese Adult Video), slated for a release in June this year.

Starring JAV actress Ayane Suzukawa, the movie is also titled as “Kimi no Nawa” – just that, the title is actually a word play on the original title, as the kanji “nawa” (縄) here actually means rope, while the original “na wa” (名は) means name.

So, the porn title actually means “Your Rope”, and from that we can sort of guess the theme of the adult movie already – just in case the poster didn’t give it away!

It's BDSM!

The porn parody will be released on 23 June 2017, and pre-orders for the DVD are available via Amazon Japan, pricing at JPY4,104 before shipping, The Hyped Geek reports.

“Your Name” is currently the highest-grossing anime film worldwide with a total gross of more than USD353 million.

It is also the fourth highest-grossing film of all time in Japan and the seventh highest grossing traditionally animated film worldwide.

Justice will prevail!

Organiser of Ed Sheeran’s concert in Malaysia, PR Worldwide has announced that tickets which have been put on resale will have their barcodes disabled.

PR Worldwide director Anita Baskaran told The Star that they have been keeping track on every transaction made, and have found some suspicious ones.

“We have investigated every transaction and found some suspicious ones. These suspicious transactions will go into a blacklist. If we find that those tickets have been put up for resale, then the barcode will be disabled,” she said as quoted.

Take that, scalpers!

“However, we will investigate thoroughly before we make a decision to disable or enable a barcode,” she added.

According to the director, a few confirmed resellers have been identified and action will soon be taken against them.

A notice has been posted on the MyTicket.Asia website, the concert's sole authorised ticketing agent, to warn fans and scalpers regarding the tickets.

“We have encountered several ticket buyers, who bought more than 4 tickets, as permitted, by doing multiple transactions with the same credit card.”

“Those kinds of buyers are trying to re-sell these tickets on other platforms. Please be advised that this is against all terms of conditions of this event, and we will void those tickets for access and make sure that those tickets will be re-allocated to the true fans and supporters of Ed Sheeran.”

The statement also noted that the organisers will do their best to assure fair opportunities for all ticket buyers.

Earlier this week, Ed Sheeran’s highly anticipated concert in Malaysia had its tickets snapped up within 30 minutes after going on sale.

Shortly after, the tickets were found to be resold on unauthorised reselling websites at ridiculously expensive prices between RM700 to RM8,000.

The original ticket prices are RM198, RM298, RM358 and RM458.

Ed Sheeran’s concert in Malaysia will take place on 14 November 2017 at Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil in Kuala Lumpur.

CBS has finally released the first trailer for “Star Trek: Discovery”, the TV spinoff of the iconic series set 10 years before the original “Star Trek”.

And with that, we finally get to see the first look of Malaysian actress Tan Sri Dato’ Michelle Yeoh as Philippa Georgiou, Captain of the Shenzhou fleet.

Apart from the trailer, the first official image of the series also arrived at the same time, featuring Yeoh and her co-star as well as main heroine, Sonequa Martin-Green as Michael Burnham, who has served under Georgiou for seven years.

The photo shows the two officers dressed for desert exploration as they find themselves on a presumably unrevealed planet, suggesting that the new show will fully embrace its “discovery” moniker.

The trailer features Georgiou and Burnham walking in a desert before beaming up to the starship. The clip also gives the first glimpse of a Vulcan, some cool-looking Klingons and some new alien species.

The series will make its debut in mid-2017 on CBS and Netflix, and it will be expanded to 15 episodes from the originally promised 13 episodes.

Sarawakian singer Jessie Chung to debut first concert in Australia

Sarawakian singer Jessie Chung is set to have her first full-length concert in Australia this coming October.

The singer who is also a naturopath and medical writer announced the news during the media celebration of her album “Be Strong” reaching platinum, on 18 May 2017 at Natural Health Farm.

After signing a five-year deal with Future Entertainment & Music Group Australia last year, Jessie has decided to focus and expand her music career in the country after receiving encouraging response from her Australian fans.

For now, there is still no exact date for her concert but she said that it will be held by end of October, a day before her second wedding in Gold Coast, Australia.

Jessie recently registered her marriage in Australia after becoming a permanent resident there. She finally received a legal marriage certificate after more than a decade since her marriage in Malaysia.

Her wedding ceremony was previously announced to be in September, but Jessie has confirmed that it has been rescheduled to October, and to be held a day after her inaugural concert in Australia.

Jessie has so far released a total of nine albums; seven Chinese and two English.

“Be Strong” which is her second English album has sold over 15 thousand physical copies in Malaysia alone, and had debuted atop of Taiwan’s most authoritative album sales chart, Five Music’s International Chart.

JAV company is set to recruit potential male actors in Malaysia

$

As Japan’s AV (Adult Video) industry is facing a severe shortage of male actors, a particular Japan AV company called Tokyo Dreams will be coming to Kuala Lumpur to look for potential male porn stars.

As unbelievable as the news sounds, it has been reported that the company has previously held auditions in Singapore and had successfully found five male actors out of the 25 men who attended the auditions.

In an interview with Sunday Register, studio recruitment manager Shime Tashiaki said, “We saw some excellent actors at the Singapore auditions and offered a total of five contracts to the men who performed best.”

“We now hope to find more talented actors at our Malaysian auditions, due to be held in Kuala Lumpur. At this point we are in the process of finding a suitable venue.”

Okay, first of all, we’re pretty sure that this kind of thing is illegal in Malaysia, but according to reports from Press Union, the Singapore auditions were done secretly where the producers did not announce the time and location, but instead shared a series of clues for the men to figure it out, which explains why only 25 people showed up.

The Malaysian audition should follow the same process, but we’re not sure if they’re able to pull off the same trick, considering that Malaysia is somewhat a conservative country and wind of the auditions would definitely spark rage amongst the religious!

Also, this is not the first time that this matter has been brought up.

News about JAV auditions in Malaysia has been ongoing for the past few years, and we’re not sure if the past auditions actually happened for real, or did the company managed to cover it up so well that no one really found out.

For now (interested applicants *ahem*), take note that the Malaysian auditions will allegedly be held “from mid to late June”.

Ayumi Hamasaki says she is becoming completely deaf

J-pop superstar Ayumi Hamasaki has announced that she will become completely deaf soon.

The J-pop princess revealed the news on her blog Team Ayu on Saturday, talking about her current health condition and revealing that her right ear has started to weaken after years of compensating for her fully deaf left ear.

 She wrote on her blog as translated by Arama Japan;

“Just before this year’s tour began I received a second blow – my hearing started to deteriorate further. My semicircular canals had blown, and I was experiencing crippling dizziness. I wasn’t able to walk in a straight line, and was often reduced to vomiting in the restroom at the rehearsal studio. I tried to put a brave face on things, but was told after various hearing tests that my right ear (which had been working overtime to compensate for my deaf left ear) was weakening fast. I don’t have a clear memory of my journey home after that. I just remember wondering how I, as a singer, would cope with two useless ears. Other than that, I was in darkness.”

Hamasaki, 38, who is the best-selling Japanese solo artiste of all time, has been deaf in her left ear since 2008. Her ear condition was caused by a cold and an ear infection back in 2000.

Back then, Hamasaki was told to ease her exposure to loud noises and clear up her immense schedule so that her ear infection could heal, but Hamasaki ignored the warnings and continued touring and doing music performances.

“The stage is where I belong. It’s the only place I really, truly exist. I don’t know anything else. There’s no point in worrying about what lies ahead. I will keep listening, even if I can’t hear. I will keep moving, evening if I can’t move. I’m not looking for sympathy or pity. I will hold my head high and keep going forward until my last breath,” she continued in her post.

Malaysian singer Jessie Chung is set to release her first Malay EP which will include a duet with local singing icon Fauziah Latiff, lovingly known as “Jee” by her fans.

“Fauziah and I, we’re going to do a duet for my upcoming Malay language album,” she confessed during the media celebration of her latest album “Be Strong” which had reached platinum status in Malaysia.

The collaboration happened after Jessie performed Fauziah’s most famous hit, “Dia”, during her “Love Unity” concert in Malaysia two years ago.

Fauziah Latiff and also Ziana Zain were the guest performers at the concert.

Though the title of the EP is yet to be revealed, Jessie said that it will consist of three songs including her duet with Fauziah, a pop rock song, and a slow number.

Jessie also hoped that the extended play will be able to be completed by the end of this year.

Although she sings mostly in Chinese and recently in English, Jessie is no stranger to singing Malay songs.

Apart from “Dia”, she also sang Sheila Majid’s “Sinaran” during her 2015 concert at the Megastar Arena.

She also translated one of her successful hits, “Tearless Sky”, which she dedicated to her cancer patients – to the Malay language titled “Langit Membiru”.

So far, Jessie has released seven Chinese albums and two English albums.

Both of her English albums; “There You Are” and “Be Strong” achieved platinum certification, selling over 15 thousand copies.

Apart from her upcoming Malay EP, Jessie will also hold her first concert in Australia this coming October.
